45kg Gas Bottle

A 45kg gas bottle (≅100lb propane tank) is the most common size of home LPG gas bottles. A 45kg gas bottle can be refilled onsite, via LPG refill tanker trucks, or exchanged.

A usual installation contains two 45kg LPG gas bottles, allowing you to switch LPG gas bottles while awaiting refill or exchange for the empty.

Home has bottle suppliers either exchange 45kg gas bottles, with a full one replacing an empty, or they get refilled from an LPG tanker. 90 kg gas bottles and 210kg gas bottles can only be refilled by tanker.

210kg gas bottles are installed when there is a home with a high rate of consumption or for commercial applications. As with the 90kg gas bottles, 210kg gas bottles must be refilled by a tanker delivery.

Bottled Gas

Bottled gas is generally understood to mean LPG gas in bottles. The LPG gas cylinders are usually steel vessels for storing and transporting propane (C3H8) and butane (C₄H₁₀).

Technically, bottled gas refers to holding any compressed gaseous substance which is a gas at standard temperature (20°C) and pressure (1 atm).

Whilst typically steel, gas bottles can also be aluminium, composites, stainless steel or hot dipped galvanised steel.

LPG – Liquefied Petroleum Gas – Liquid Petroleum Gas

Liquefied Petroleum Gas or Liquid Petroleum Gas – LPG – are flammable hydrocarbon gas mixtures stored in a liquefied form and typically used in gaseous form. Propane, butane and isobutane are the three most common LPG gases and are generally used as fuel in heating, cooking, hot water and as vehicular fuel.

Don’t assume that the LPG price is the same as the last time. 

Gas bottle refill suppliers change their gas bottle prices as often as once a month and they don’t send out notice of these changes. So, you should always ask for the price first.

BBQ Gas Bottle – BBQ Gas Bottle Sizes

A BBQ gas bottle contains LPG gas (propane) and is typically used for outdoor cooking on a barbecue. Propane is preferred over butane, as it works better in colder weather.

4kg & 9kg gas bottle dimensions are the most common BBQ gas bottle sizes.  A 9kg BBQ gas bottle is 460mm in height with a diameter of 310mm. Tare (empty) weight is about 8.8kg and a full weight of 17.8kg.

A 4kg BBQ gas bottle has a height of 348mm and a diameter of 260mm. Tare (empty) weight is approximately 5.5kg and the full weight is 9.5kg.
